Changing the Conversation Around Mental Health

Anulika Chilaka • October 30, 2025

For too long, mental health struggles have been met with silence, shame, or stigma. At Lifeline Walk-In Medical & Mental Health Clinic, we’re on a mission to change that. We believe that getting help is a sign of strength, not weakness—and we’ve created a space where you can receive the care you deserve without fear of judgment.

We’re proud to offer walk-in mental health services 7 days a week, making it easier than ever to take that first brave step toward healing.

Why Mental Health Stigma Still Exists

Despite growing awareness, many people still hesitate to seek help for mental health concerns. The stigma often stems from:

  • Cultural or societal expectations
  • Fear of being judged or misunderstood
  • Belief that asking for help is a sign of failure
  • Lack of access to supportive, non-judgmental care

But here’s the truth: everyone struggles sometimes, and prioritizing your mental well-being is one of the most courageous things you can do.

At Lifeline, There’s No Judgment—Only Support

At Lifeline Walk-In Clinic, we’ve created a safe, compassionate environment where you can speak openly about your experiences. Whether you’re managing anxiety, depression, trauma, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life’s challenges, we’re here to help you feel heard, supported, and empowered.

Seeking Help = Strength

Asking for help doesn’t mean you’re weak—it means you’re self-aware. It means you’re taking control of your life and investing in your future. Seeking mental health care shows:

  • Courage to face difficult emotions
  • Strength to take action
  • Self-respect to care for your well-being
  • Wisdom to know when support is needed

You're not alone, and you don’t have to navigate this journey by yourself.

How Lifeline Walk-In Clinic Is Breaking the Stigma

We believe mental health care should be as accessible and normalized as any physical health service. That’s why we:

  • Normalize mental health check-ins just like routine physical exams
  • Provide integrated medical and mental health care under one roof
  • Speak openly about mental wellness to encourage others to do the same
  • Offer services 7 days a week so help is always available

Our goal is simple: to make mental health care a regular, accepted, and respected part of your overall health.

You Deserve to Feel Better—We’re Here to Help

If you’ve been waiting for the “right time” to seek help, consider this your sign. At Lifeline Walk-In Medical & Mental Health Clinic, we’re ready when you are—with confidential, compassionate care in a judgment-free space.

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles County Public Health Department is ending clinical services at seven of its 13 locations throughout the county. What You Need To Know Cuts result from significant fiscal challenges because of a more than $50 million cut in federal, state, and local funding According to the County Health Department, federal funding accounts for almost 50% of its budget Due to continued uncertainty, the statement released by the health department noted there could be additional service disruptions going forward The clinics that are stopping services offered things like vaccines and STD testing In a statement released by the health department, it cited significant fiscal challenges because of a more than $50 million cut in federal, state and local funding. Dr. Anulika Chilaka opened Lifeline Walk-in Clinic in Torrance a year ago, and she said privately owned clinics like hers will not be impacted by these cuts. “It is concerning when people are losing access to care. It is always concerning to anyone from a health care standpoint, but we want people to know we are here for you,” said Dr. Chilaka. According to the County Health Department, federal funding accounts for almost 50% of its budget. Because of a more than $50 million cut in federal, state, and local funding, the county will close locations starting on February 27. Due to continued uncertainty, the statement released by the health department noted there could be additional service disruptions going forward. Leaving family-owned clinics like Dr. Chilaka’s filling the gap. “We are open, we don’t have the same restrictions, we can do as much as we can, we can spend as much time with our patients, we can do more than perhaps some other places may be able to,” said Dr. Chilaka. In a statement sent to Spectrum News by LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, she said in part: “The Department of Public Health’s decision was based on low patient volume and the clinic’s limited scope of care. I will continue to monitor DPH’s closure plan to ensure patients are fully supported through referrals to nearby community-based clinics and other transition resources so they continue receiving the care they need.” The clinics that are stopping services offered things like vaccines and STD testing. According to the health department, these locations will still offer non-clinical services and programs.
